Inside the Makers Workshop: STITCH & HAMMER

"We live in a day and age where we know little about the objects that we interact with on a daily basis. For the most part, nearly every item that we have purchased is the result of a mass produced system. We often have little to no connection with how objects are made, who makes them, or what their environmental or social impacts might be. One could make the argument that the days of specialized craftsmen are over. We tend to think otherwise.

At Stitch & Hammer, we believe in the value of making goods by hand and strengthening the relationship between craftsman and consumer. We work with American tanneries and small businesses when sourcing our materials. We strive to use the best products available from organic and natural fibers to vegetable dyed leathers from North American Steers. Stitch & Hammer was founded in 2011 by designer and maker, Amy Tremper. Simple yet elegant design is what motivates us and we take great care in every item we make. Our goal is to create a product that evokes both traditional and modern qualities. We are passionate about what we do and we think that translates into our goods. Each item is designed and crafted in our studio based in Boulder, Colorado."
