NOLA Fashion Week: Amanda deLeon

I am ashamed to say that this was my first time to attend a show for NOLA Fashion Week. As soon as we walked into the venue, we felt welcomed and inspired. Local artists, photographers, and fellow fashion enthusiasts gathered to witness an amazing designer, Amanda deLeon. Everything about her production was beautifully dramatic. Each piece more amazing and show stopping than the last. Gold sequins, black leather with detailed cutouts... I couldn't pick out a favorite look if I tried. I am dying to own a pair of those meticulously hand stitched sequin pants!
Amanda says, "I create clothing as an extension of my personal feelings and experiences. My collections often discuss belonging vs not belonging. My architectural background has helped develop the structural elements of my clothing. What most inspires me is music, and how it speaks to my soul and relates to my past, present and future. My pieces are designed and constructed in New Orleans, a city that embodies amplified romanticism and cultural interaction through its passion for music, food and people."
